legend - on the front, at the bottom, printed in ink, verses: "these beautiful virgins that you see / all around this table; / of the high mysteries of the cross / make their conversation delectable. // knowing that the world is nothing, / with good reason they despise it; / and seek the sovereign good / in the holy books that they read. // their heart burning with charity, / of secret remorse is not revealed gnaws; / and the love of truth, / makes them hate the lie. // thus without ever sighing / after mortal delights / we see them always aspire / to eternal felicities.
