The tartan appears to be black watch (42nd regiment) [1], as it lacks the bright yellow over-check of the similar 92nd regiment tartan that eventually became the main gordon clan tartan [2][3]. "elizabeth brodie was born in 1794. She was the daughter of alexander brodie and elizabeth margaret wemyss. She married general george gordon, 5th duke of gordon, son of alexander gordon, 4th duke of gordon and jane maxwell, on 11 december 1813. She died on 31 january 1864. Her married name became gordon.
