Ivan Enchev-Vidyu Bulgarian Folk Crosses 169, 25 March 1917

169. Corner of the cemetery of lovech. In the cemeteries in lovchansko, you can find groups of monuments of several copies stuck over one grave - there are slabs with crosses, stone and wooden crosses and dolls. The cross is always made of gray soft grinding stone with average dimensions of 30x30x10 cm. The graves are not surrounded by stones. As in this neighborhood, so in troyanska, the grinding stone is taken from the surrounding rocks, and there are developed quarries in the village. Turkish hazelnut. The other stones — calcareous tuff, flint, etc. — from the village krushuna, lovchansko. The hunter type cross bears inscriptions on the reverse side, rarely on the face. Sketched on 25. Iii. 1917.
