The likeness of edward dembowski with short hair was made from a dagierotype, on the reverse side of which there is the signature of aleksander karpiński, edward's co-activist and friend, as follows: "edward dembowski, son of leon and julia née kochanowski, born on may 31, 1822, died in podgórze on february 27, 1846.
