giraud made the opera ball the subject of two paintings: "a parisian night (la exit du bal de l'opéra)", exhibited at the salon of 1866 (not located) and "bal at the opera", exhibited at the salon of 1867 (n°664). This last painting shows us the front foyer of the le peletier room, like manet's famous painting on the same subject, dated 1874 (national gallery in washington). The theater disappeared in a fire on october 28, 1873. Mode of acquisition: purchase
