A chinese interior, showing konomura oinosuke, the father of ishikawa goemon, in chinese dress, holding an unrolled kakemono of a hawk on a pine-branch; the hawk has come to life and flies off carrying a white cloth with a message written in oinosuke's blood (inset: a village at the foot of a mountain).
