"The Katharinenfleet in front of the customs connection", Valentin Ruths, 1890

The picture actually shows the dovenfleet looking west towards the evangelical lutheran main church of st. Katharinen, hence the confusion of terms. A body of water called katharinenfleet existed until 1946 on the island of cremon, west of the church, and has continued to exist as a street of the same name since it was filled in. Date: 1890. Dimensions: 44.5 x 72.5 cm. Medium: watercolour on paper. Collection: Hamburger Kunsthalle. Valentin Ruths - Das Katharinenfleet vor dem Zollanschluss
