Imagine, i went to sleep after writing you the letter. At exactly 12:00 i was suddenly woken up by my comrades congratulating me and giving me little things like cigarettes, etc. There was also a small package with really nice things from the girl i wrote to you about. I was very happy all around. I lay down again and slept into the 12th. In the morning i ate your little croissants and the pastries. I dreamt i was sitting at home at the birthday table. I let the others try the croissants [they were delighted. ]. Date: 14 December 1944.
