Saint Bruno miraculously makes a spring gush forth, Manuel Bayeu, circa 1779

The work represents saint bruno of cologne with the carthusian habit and the star on his chest in the center of the composition, kneeling, with open arms and in an attitude of prayer and illuminated by a beam of light coming from heaven, upper left corner. To the left, from some rocks, water flows. The landscape, very open, reveals masses of bushes to the right, although the sky with a cloud that crosses it from right to left. The scene represents saint bruno imploring heaven for a solution to the lack of water in the place chosen for the founding of the charterhouse.
