John gawler (1727-1803), in red jacket and waistcoat with gold buttons, fine linen shirt, knotted cravat, holding a quill in his right hand and resting his arm on a book positioned upon a table signed 'hbone' (mid-right) and signed, dated and inscribed in full on the counter-enamel 'john gawler esqr. London sepr: 1820. Painted by henry bone r. A. Enamel = painter to his majesty after the original by the late sir sir joshua reynolds' enamel on copper 126 x 101 mm. Date: September 1820.
