eleanor of habsburg or austria, born november 15, 1498 in louvain (hapsburg netherlands), died february 18, 1558 in talavera la real (castile), queen consort of portugal from 1518 to 1521 and queen of france from 1530 to 1547. Eldest daughter of philip i the handsome, archduke of austria, and joan i the mad, queen of castile. She grew up in the netherlands, with her brother, the future emperor charles v.
