Feldpost von Hans 1945-02-21 4, 21 February 1945

Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1945-02-12) letter no. 312 (1945-02-21) next letter (1945-02-25) envelope: front back card card - front card - front - rotated text [we went straight to the night cinema and saw heinz rühmann's “i entrust my wife to you” which was] very nice. We had a lot of jobs to do so we started early at 5 a. M. You can imagine how happy the people were. When it got light i saw that all sorts of things were broken here in berlin. We were almost everywhere: at the brandenburg gate, unter den linden, at the old and new reich chancellery, etc. The weather was lovely and we were lucky not to have any alarms from the air either. At 3 p. M. We continued on to neustrelitz and stayed in the brakeman's cabin because there was no other room. When we arrived we called theo at home and said it was still 21 km to go. Now we had to sneak past the patrol and onto the train because we didn't have any id to get to dolgen. Everything went well, we [sat on the train, now we were both very tired and fell asleep. ]. Date: 21 February 1945.
