carnival scenes (pierrot, polichinelle, giants on stilts. . . ) in the rue de castiglione, with place vendôme in the background. On the right still stand the remains of the facade of the feuillants church, built in 1624 by françois mansart, for whom it was his first important work. Historical commentary:
painting exhibited at the salon of 1808 (nº63). Rue de castiglione, opened in 1802, was named after the victory won by bonaparte over the austrian armies (august 5, 1796). The demolition of the convent and church of feuillants, begun in 1804, was not completely completed until 1831. Mode of acquisition: purchase
