mercereau's collections of lithographs are composed of lithographs from la france de nos jours, a vast suite published by deliveries, from 1853 to 1876, and including 475 plates in two prints, one in two shades (black and bistre), the other in colors. Booksellers gathered these plates into albums of varying composition in terms of the number of plates and the designers (asselineau, mercereau, maurice, deroy, etc. ). A title (les pyrénées, by ch. Mercereau; bagnères-de-luchon, by ch. Mercereau) was stamped on the upper cover of the album binding, as well as the name of the bookseller for whom it was made. Most of the collections of these pyrenean plates bear the name of sajous, bookseller in bagnères-de-luchon; the most complete album we have seen includes 48 lithographs by mercereau. Unusual. The pl. 1 to 20 are numbered from 442 to 461. Pl. 21 (in monochrome) is numbered 468, it is drawn from nature and lithographed by deroy. The pl. 22 bears no indication except the stamp "tribute to the owner aimé géruzet - bagnères de bigorre". Ancely, rené (1876 - 1966). Possessor. Date: between 1853 and 1876.
