Lithograph by alfred edward chalon (1780-1860) of the ballerina marie taglioni (1804-1884) costumed as zelica (zoloé) in the opera-ballet le dieu et la bayadère, ou la courtisane amoureuse (1830), choreographer filippo taglioni (1777-1871), composer daniel auber (1782-1871). Le dieu et la bayadère was titled the maid of cashmere, in the english version danced in 1837 by mary ann lee and augusta maywood at philadelphia’s chestnut street theatre; french le dieu et la bayadère ou la bonne de cachemire. Date: Circa October, 1830.
