The allies crossed basel in 1813 on the afternoon of january 12, 1814, the austrian emperor franz i came to basel and took up residence in the blue house on the rheinsprung. Tsar alexander i (1777-1825) took up residence in the segerhof on blumenrain. The prussian king friedrich wilhelm iii (1770-1840) was quartered in the teutonic knights' house on rittergasse.
