The barque 'norham' off the texel, approaching amsterdam inscribed: "norham of blyth. Littlehailes commander. Texel 1872". ‘norham’ arrived in amsterdam harbour in february 1872 from theodosia in the us with a freight of linseed. Here she is shown in two positions under full sail off the texel, whose eierland lighthouse (opened 1864) is visible at left; she is accompanied by texel pilot cutter no. 7 depicted in the middle-ground.
