Field post letters from hans koch, vienna, world war ii, eastern front, 1922-1945 previous letter (1941-04-06) letter no. 8 (1941-04-14) next letter (1941-04-20) envelope: front back text göttingen, april 14, 1941. Dear parents! thank you very much for your lovely letter and card. I received the latter on easter sunday morning, as an easter greeting from home. Unfortunately the package has not arrived yet. We also had good friday off, which was great! we were able to really relax. We've finished our training now, so it's better. Now i'm going to tell you something that will surprise you. The last time i weighed myself in vienna, i weighed 51 kg. On thursday i weighed myself here and i weighed 58 kg. Are you surprised? so i've gained a whopping 7 kg! from that you can see that i'm not doing too badly here and that you don't need to worry about me. Karl and i went to the cinema and the coffee house. In the kaff. Haus we were able to get cake without stamps, well you can imagine that. We ate until we couldn't eat any more! today, easter monday, we're staying at home to sort out our things, do the laundry and write. It's only here that you can really appreciate a day off like this! i'm on room duty today [i have to tidy up the room and then sign out. ]. Date: 14 April 1941.
