Henry Bainbridge Kerone and Henry P. Harding, circa 1860

Cased tintype portrait of two men in civilian clothes shown seated from the lap up. The man on the left has his arm around the shoulder of the man on the right. Which man is which in this photo is not known, but kerone is probably the one on the left. Kerone was a lieutenant with the 40th missouri infantry volunteers. His friend harding was a lieutenant with the 26th missouri infantry volunteers and was killed in action at mission ridge, tennessee, nov. 25, 1863. Prior to his civil war service, harding had been a member of the militia unit, the st. Louis grays. Kerone founded the harry p. Harding post 107, missouri department of the grand army of the republic, which was named for his fallen friend. Title: henry bainbridge kerone and henry p. Harding. Date: circa 1860.
