My beloved mother! you have already received my airmail letter from bobruisk, have you? now the time has finally come. I am lying in the wonderful hospital train and am travelling west. I will soon have the russian border behind me. Where i am going is still unknown. I cannot tell you how heavenly beautiful it is here. After all the difficult days full of horror, mud and dirt, it is like paradise. All white beds with wonderful springs, you hardly notice that you are travelling. Good food and gifts of love [i often think i am dreaming but it is reality. ]. Date: 6 December 1943.
