It is quite different from the desolate steppes of russia. When we arrived in zakopane we were picked up by bus and taken to the spa hotel 6 km away. Everywhere we came across horse-drawn sleighs whose drivers were very handsome in their picturesque traditional costumes. The spa hotel is in a very beautiful location. We were given a hearty meal straight away. Then we went to the bathroom, to the hairdresser and to bed. There were 3 of us in a room with 3 wonderful, wide beds with inserts. 3 lockers for our clothes and hot and cold water. In the morning the sun shines through the window and when we look out our gaze falls on the wonderful mountain world of the high tatras! Date: 2 February 1942.
