Carlos de Borbón, Prince of Asturias (future Carlos IV), Mariano Salvador Maella

Carlos de Borbón, Prince of Asturias (future Carlos IV), Mariano Salvador Maella

Portrait of the prince of asturias, carlos de borbón (1748-1819), who would come to reign as carlos iv. And the prince appears standing and three-quarters, dressed in a red jacket and white vest decorated with gold and floral decorations around the buttons. In addition, the sitter wears the sash and plaque of the order of charles iii, the golden fleece and the plaque of the order of the holy spirit. The lower part of the canvas seems to have been cut from it, since it is identical to the one kept in the bank of spain, which represents the monarch up to his knees and with his left hand resting on a table. And there is another similar portrait in the royal monastery of la encarnación in madrid. Object Type: painting. Date: 18th century. Dimensions: 84 × 77 cm (33 × 30.3 in). Medium: oil on canvas. Collection: Ministry of Economy and Finance. Carlos IV de España (Ministerio de Hacienda de España)
