“six beards in three seconds” appeared in the magasin pittoresque in august 1835 and was set in the context of the development of the inventions of steam engines. This is a first drawing mocking these discoveries, which can be linked to "the great automate", a famous steam attraction of the cabinet of physics and mechanics of mr. Pelletier at the palais-royal (rochegude and clébert, les rue de paris, ii, p. 62, reed. 1958). Next in the work of taxile delord, another world (1844), "concert à vapor", "la rhubarbe et le senna" and "restaurant à la vapor" which takes up the composition of "six barbs. . . " (cf. Exhibition. J. J. Grandville, musée des beaux-arts de nancy, nov. 1986-march 1987, pp. 384-385). Acquisition mode: unknown acquisition mode
