Place d’amies in front of the milan citadel. Of objects from the illustrated world is to offer its readers the sites, towns and monuments of localities to which the concerns of the moment call for public attention. He left no stone unturned to fill it. As soon as the marriage of h. H. H. Prince napoleon with a princess of sardinia became, in piedmont, the occasion for interesting news, he did not hesitate to send one of his most ingenious designers to this country and to the north of italy , which then attracted all eyes. We have since drawn from the boxes that this trip allowed him to enrich with all the most curious things these picturesque and famous countries offer, to make them known to our readers in everything which can, in the midst of daily contingencies and concerns, excite the most keen interest; genoa, turin, alexandria, the course of ticino, have in turn offered their general aspect to our illustration; the interior pomp of their palaces, the appearance of their squares or their monuments. Today we are adding a new plate to this series: it is the view of the parade ground which extends in front of the citadel of milan, the usual site of the austrian army's exercises. This was for us the opportunity to obtain from a writer loved by the public and no less known for his travels of which he became an interesting storyteller, than for his purely literary works, an article on this city which occupies such a large part in the history of italy, in that of art and in the concerns of the moment.
