Golek marioneta

Golek marioneta

Wayang golek and wayang klitik the golek and klitik theater puppets are made of wood, with a size that rarely exceeds 60cm. In the case of the first, the head, with the details of the face carved and highlighted in color, is fixed to a wooden support that crosses the body and ends in a sharp point, often reinforced and covered in metal to facilitate its fixation. Manipulating this support allows the puppets' heads to rotate, movements that are accompanied by those of the arms and hands. The arms connect to the puppet's body, maintaining its mobility at the height of the shoulders, elbows and hands. The movement of the arms and hands is possible thanks to thin wooden rods, or, more rarely, buffalo horn, fixed to the hands. The puppeteer can thus articulate the movements of the head with those of the arms and hands.
