oil on canvas, in a painted oval; 76 x 63. 3 cm. The sitter was the daughter of sir edward knatchbull, 4th bt. And his wife alice wyndham. On 11th june 1754 she married thomas harris second son of james harris, and his second wife lady elizabeth ashley. Her husband was a member of lincoln’s inn and a master in chancery. He was a friend of george frederick handel with whom he corresponded and to whom handel gave the famous portrait of himself by mercier. Date: 18-th century.
