elegant woman in a blue hat in front of the moulin rouge, place blanche, 18th arrondissement. Genre scene. Fashion. Urban landscape. Young woman in full length, in right profile, in front of the entrance to the moulin rouge, figures, morris column. Historical commentary:
the seligmann donation includes a series of 17 feminine silhouettes: elegant parisian figures on the grand boulevards, at the moulin rouge, at the universal exhibition, during nighttime outings; portraits of japanese women. Illustrator of novels, magazines ("frou-frou", "lachronicle parisienne"), humorous newspapers ("le rire"), henry somm goes beyond the scope of illustration by participating in the impressionist events at durand-ruel (see the reference catalog). Montorgueil wrote about somm's drawings "it is his habit to capture women in flight, in life, in the middle of the street, when she passes ("the parisian painted by herself", 1897)
