Originally the central panel of a triptych; the wings with figures of two angels on the front holding the instruments of the passion of christ (the backs were repainted) were lost during the second world war; the predella (deer, 1843-1847), mentioned in the 19th century and associated with this retable, disappeared at an unknown date. The painting points to a low german artist inspired by master francke (stylization of the figures, lyricism) and the influence of dutch painting is also evident (detail design). Theme of the holy trinity according to the pietas domini, which comes from the burgundian iconographic type (pitié-de nostre-seigneur); dogmatic, soteriological representation: god the father presents the body of christ taken down from the cross as a sign of reconciliation with humanity, which took place thanks to the mercy of the father and the obedience of the son through the sacrifice of the redeemer.
