Allegorical portrait of king ferdinand vi of spain (1713-1759), who was the son of king philip v of spain. In the work the king appears standing on a dais, wearing armor and a royal mantle; he wears the collar of the order of the golden fleece and the sash of the order of the holy spirit. Two feminine allegories pay homage to him: agriculture, which holds a cornucopia, and art with the caduceus of mercury and the three crowns of aurel, accompanied by the little genius of drawing. The symbols of architecture, painting and sculpture occupy the lower area, along with a putti resting on armor and swords. On the throne chair you can see the scepter and the crown. Fame appears among the clouds, behind the king, and spreads his virtues as a ruler. The painting was commissioned by the academy, and retains its splendid original frame of carved and gilded wood with the three laurel wreaths. Object Type: painting. Date: 1754.
