Gavotte Pavlova, 1922

* signed lower left: troy kinney. Aleksandr volinin partners pavlova in the gavotte pavlova, arranged by ivan clustine to paul lincke's "glowworm" music from the operetta lysistrata. Both dancers are costumed in the directoire style of ca. 1800. Pavlova wears a deep poke bonnet tied under the chin with a long ribbon, chemise gown with a train gathered up and attached to the left wrist. Volinin wears high-waisted breeches, coat with wide lapels. Unnumbered impression from an edition of 200, with 14 trial proofs. Reproduced in the catalogue raisonné of the etchings and drypoints of troy kinney, published by doubleday & co. In 1929. Date: 1922. Collection: Prints depicting dance.
