Illustrations, vignettes, title pages and frontispieces for works by various authors, including charles asselineau, theodore de banville, charles baudelaire, philippe burty, champfleury, philarete chasles, francois coppee, giuseppe garibaldi, theophile gautier, albert glatigny, jean de la fontaine, catulle mendes, charles monselet, abbe prevost, francois rabelais and mathurin regnier. Also includes illustrations of the gospels and the jardin des plantes. Many are in variant states and some are unpublished. S. P. Avery collection. This list includes only small vignettes, title pages and frontispieces. Oversize title pages are listed separately in nypg95-f237. Title from h. Beraldi, les graveurs du xixe siecle, v. 3, p. 115. Wood engravings are by other artists, after designs by bracquemond. Proof for eaux-fortes de rabelais (paris: alphonse lemerre, 1872); the print's title is taken from the published version.
