annotation: in the cistern, the soil falls onto a pair of knives and is then flushed into the discharge pipe by the water from a centrifugal pump to fill an excavated area belonging to the nieuwland polder. Under normal conditions, 23,145 m3 of peat and clay were processed in 40 working days of 10 hours, for which purpose 960 hl of coal were burned. The crew consists of a mill owner, two engineers and a servant. As dredging from the barge progresses, the bottom end of the bucket ladder is lifted and the barge is pulled along, both by the same steam winch. Position: z. O.
