Charles Dixon01, Charles Dixon, 1923

Charles dixon (1872-1934) the 'carmania', the first transatlantic liner to be fitted with turbines, was taken over by the navy as an armed merchant cruiser at the beginning of the first world war. In september 1914 she fought a duel in the south atlantic against the german armed merchant cruiser 'cap trafalgar' which she sank. The watercolour is signed and dated 1923. Date: 1923.
