Metropolis (steamboat), Mid-1850s

The steamboat metropolis, built in new york by sneden & whitlock in 1854 for the bay state steamboat company (better known as the fall river line). Metropolis was the largest and fastest steamboat on long island sound for some years. Date: Mid-1850s.
