From documents regarding s j flachséen's deed of gift and grave in 1836, testament in 1842, the following is recorded; "to murbeck's institution for the education of poor girls, i give. . Two portraits of my beloved parents and one of my late brother, which three portraits are painted by the professor and knight c. F. Von breda. "
according to the gift deed, samuel jacob flachséen donates money to the murbeckska stiftelsen, as well as the portraits of his parents eva maria and jacob flachséen (catalog no. 326) and this portrait of his younger brother. According to the list of works compiled by emil hultmark, this no. 32 is "portrait of unknown boy aged 10", but the portrait depicts samuel jacob flachséen's brother, whose first name is unknown. Date: 1 January 1786.
