Copenhagen the Night between the 4.-5th of September seen from Christianshavn., Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, 1807
Text from bruun rasmussen: present watercolour by c. W. Eckersberg must be one of the preliminary works which g. L. Lahde used for his famous aquatint. Eckersberg and lahde had a close collaboration in the years 1807–10, where eckersberg draw the sketches and lahde was the one in charge of publishing the works. There was a great interest in current prints and drawings at that time, such as scenes from the everyday life, but also highly great incidents as in this case: the english bombardement of copenhagen 1807. In the right side of the picture you see the kings brewery and to the left langebro. In the front you see different groups and people running away from the fire. Object Type: painting. Date: 1807. Dimensions: height: 31 cm (12.2 in); width: 43.5 cm (17.1 in). Medium: pen and pencil, watercolor. Collection: Unknown. Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg - København Natten mellem 4.-5.
