Louis puts money into the purse at james's waist. Behind stands father petre (3) holding the young prince of wales. On the right, cardinal furstenberg (4) rides the french cock beneath whose claws are heidelburg, liège and bonn. Behind the queen, is the grand dauphin (5) mounted on a donkey; he holds a lance and a shield decorated with a devil in a jesuit's cap surrounded by mortar bombs. On the left, james's bastard sons (7; the duke of berwick and, presumably, henry fitzjames, duke of albemarle) load a small boat with equipment. In the distance, a crowd of irish (?) soldiers (8) stand on a shore awaiting james's arrival. Behind the grand dauphin is a classical building on which is inscribed, "hostel pour les cornutes rojales", with engraved french title and numbering 1-8, and with dutch letterpress verses, including legend, in three columns.
