Alessandro d'anna - carnival celebration of 1774 in largo di palazzo in naples. In the 18th century, a crowd of curious people looking out from the balconies of the royal palaces (old and new) witnessed a festive parade of floats, puffins and masks in the largo di palazzo. To the left of the royal palace you can recognize the old palazzo vicerale, also called palazzo vecchio: built in 1543, it was demolished in 1837. Oil on canvas, 76x129 cm. (private collection).
