Portrait of the banker, mining industrialist and commercial councillor hermmann gumpel from a jewish family, who emigrated to switzerland in 1933, the year the national socialists seized power, and died in aswan, egypt in 1935. Scan from volume 1 of the book "hanoverian heads from administration, business, art and literature" with drawings by the painter august heitmüller in cooperation with the graphic artist wilhelm metzig (design of the overall design of the two volumes), printed and published by the heinrich osterwald printing company (book and copperplate printing as well as bookbinding).
