The opening of the 1876 centennial exposition in philadelphia was attended by a number of dignitaries, including president grant and the emperor of brazil. Here they are seen passing through the main hall in this illustration from scientific american june 10, 1876. The illustration had already been used in the may 27 edition of frank leslie's illustrated newspaper. Date: 1876.
