Guerrier des iles sandwich. Interesting image of a hawaiian warrior wearing a helmet with a mushroom ornamented crest, 1819. It is thought that this helmet was not covered with feathers but worn by the lesser chiefs and warriors. Drawn by jacques arago in his rare account of freycinet's travels around the world from 1817 to 1820. This version is from a 1843 hand-colored woodblock print. Date: drawn 1819.
