Lermontov. 1840. Portrait, executed on july 23, 1840 from life by lermontov's fellow soldier, baron d. P. Palen (the drawing was in the album of baron l. V. Rossillon). This is the only profile portrait of lermontov and, perhaps, the most similar to the original of all lifetime images. According to the recollections of contemporaries, the drawing has an undeniable resemblance. Date: 1840.
