Frantoio - Nova Reperta, Stradanus

A scene of an oil mill with the various phases of olive oil processing, from pressing, to squeezing, to clarification, up to conservation in terracotta jars. Commissioned to giovanni stradano (jan van der straet) by luigi alamanni (1558-1603), a florentine nobleman and scholar, between 1587 and 1589, this table was engraved and published by philip galle in the collection « nova reperta ». Medium: engraving.
