L'Avantage de la science, 1840

Engraving from volume 3 of la fontaine's fables depicting two characters discussing: one rich, self-absorbed and stupid. The other poorer, but humble and intelligent. The war will destroy the fortune of the proud one, while the other will benefit from his situation and intelligence. Posted on the wall one can read the moral of the fable: "let fools talk; knowledge has its price". Date: 1840. Place of creation: Paris. Collection: Bibliothèque municipale de Nancy.
