King gustaf iii (1746-1792) portrayed in the national costume variant for the court. The king sits in a gilt arm chair and wears the blue ribbon of the order of the seraphim over his right shoulder, the brilliant commander's cross of the sword of the order around his neck, the brilliant crash of the order of the seraphim on his chest and also the embroidered crash of the order of the seraphim on his coat. The king holds a letter and rests his right arm against a writing bridge, where books, an open letter and a bust of king gustaf ii adolf are visible. According to the inscription on the frame, this portrait was a gift in 1785 from gustaf iii to the governor-general of pomerania fredrik vilhelm von hessenstein (1735-1808). The latter was king fredrik i's natural son with hedvig taube. The portrait was probably executed in 1785 by per krafft d. Ä. The portrait has been passed down via him to a cousin taube and then further down the line. Date: 1 January 1785.
