Carnicero, a secondary painter in the artistic panorama of the spain of his time, here becomes a chronicler of a singular and historical event: the ascension, which apparently ended in an accident, of a montgolfier balloon by the frenchman bouclé on june 5, 1784 in the gardens of aranjuez, in the presence of the royal family, the court and the people, dressed in the characteristic costumes of majos and majas. The work was commissioned by the dukes of osuna, where the canvas comes from. Other authors relate the event to the ascension of another balloon of these characteristics, by the marquis d'arle y pilastre de rozier, on november 23, 1783 in paris. Object Type: painting.
