On the front of the coachman's cabin, the slogan "vive le rôa": "the coachman, by resting his foot on a small organ case, can, by means of this device, produce a satisfactory volume of unanimous love" (in explanation) iconographic description: pl. N°5 and 6 of the “journey of immutable thought through eager populations”. See pl. N°1 and 2 (pl. 324-325 of number 155) and pl. N°3 and 4 (pl. 326-327 of number 156). The last two pl. Of the series show "the august omnibus, dragged by its four lame ones" (in explanation), that is to say a carriage drawn by horses. On the roof of the carriage are seated, from left to right: d'argout, acting as the coachman, a man from behind ("mr. Faim", in explanation), montalivet dressed as a cook and holding a saucepan, and barthe. The emblem of the july monarchy imagined by grandville is found on the coachman's small cabin: it consists of a large pair of open scissors, surrounded by an umbrella, an enema syringe, a hat with a tricolor cockade and a magistrate's hat. Two municipal officials, "mr. Corneille, deputy of evreux, and mr. Criquet, mayor of falaise" (in explanation) cling to the carriage (to the step and to the rear door) in order to greet madame adélaïde who is inside. One of them wants to give him a bouquet of flowers. Partial pear motifs with human faces decorate the carriage. In the background, small children mounted on the branches of a tree raise their fists as the procession passes. Behind the carriage follow the incarnations of the newspapers, in the form of men with attributes. The journal of debates, wearing fleurdelysé pants and a pear on his cocked hat, takes notes in a small notebook. “le constitutionnel”, writing in a notebook whose title has the name of the newspaper, wears a cap and holds a bladder at the end of a stick on which can be read “on se // desabonn […] [desabonne]” (“the caricature” frequently makes fun of the unsubscriptions suffered by this newspaper). A bag of money hangs from his pants (“1,000”). His inkwell, attached to his clothing, in the shape of the bust of dupin in magistrate's clothing. Finally, “his dilettante spider” (in explanation) runs next to him, at the end of a thread. Then comes the “monitor”, “with his goose feathers and his velocipede device” (in explanation). He is wearing a pear-shaped hat with a human face. Hanging on the bicycle are numerous symbols of the different successive regimes in france: the pear with the head of louis-philippe of the july monarchy, the monarchical fleur-de-lys (represented upside down), the phrygian cap with a tricolor cockade, and the eagle of the empire (represented upside down). The head of a man (unidentified) hangs behind his back. Finally, the "journal de paris" brings up the rear: a bearded man with large sideburns, he wears a high hat decorated with the motif of louis-philippe's human-faced pear. He is decorated with the cross of honor. He carries a large inkwell slung across his back. It is “the only newspaper which does not write, for the excellent reason that it does not know how to write” (in explanation). On the far left, in the background, common children mounted on tree branches raise their fists in protest.
