Plate 23 from the second set of thomas and william daniell's 'oriental scenery. ' this south-eastern view of the rock at tiruchchirappalli shows the staircase that climbs to the massive complex of the shiva temple. Along the steps are some cave-temples. On the right, in the aquatint, there is a part of the dilapidated wall that used to enclose the fortified outpost of the rock. Object Type: print. Date: 1797. Place of creation: London.
