Truman Byrnes greeting HMS Hambledon 1945

The u. S. President harry s. Truman and foreign minister james byrnes acknowledge honours rendered by the british hunt-class destroyer hms hambledon (l37) which had escorted u. S. Cruiser uss augusta (ca-31) to the river scheldt in the netherlands on 15 august 1945. Truman and byrnes were traveling to the potsdam conference in germany. Date: Taken on 15 August 1945.
