the seligmann donation includes a series of 17 feminine silhouettes: elegant parisian figures on the grand boulevards, at the moulin rouge, at the universal exhibition, during nighttime outings; portraits of japanese women. Illustrator of novels, magazines ("frou-frou", "lachronicle parisienne"), humorous newspapers ("le rire"), henry somm goes beyond the scope of illustration by participating in the impressionist events at durand-ruel (see the reference catalog). Other drawings in this collection reflect the author's japonism, particularly in the choice of his subjects (see card14832 and card14841). Mode of acquisition: donation (notarial deed)
